American College finally releases marksheets

MADURAI:  Thanks to the intervention of the Madurai Kamaraj University (MKU), students pursuing Bachelors in Physics at the American College have received their marksheets from the college administration.  The institution has been mired in controversy with two factions fighting over an administration issue. On February 13, a group of students from the Physics major, along with their parents and Madurai district president of the Vishwa Hindu Parishad Chinmaya R Somasundaram, had met the head of the Physics Department at the college and the Controller of Examinations to urge them to conduct the semester exams and to issue the marksheets for the exams already conducted. The college administration is said to have advised them to meet the authorites of the MKU, following which about 50 students met the Registrar (in-charge) Rajiyakodi and put forth their request.The administrative officials of the university had reportedly asked the college to conduct the exams and distribute the marksheets in the interest of the future of the students. Subsequently, the college gave the marksheets to the students and fixed the dates to conduct the examinations, it was said.
