THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Prisons ADGP Alexander Jacob on Thursday submitted a report to the State Government in which he recommended that a detailed probe conducted by National Investigation Agency or any other central investigation agency into the calls made by prisoners using 120 mobile phones that were seized from the prisons recently. In the report, the ADGP said that calls were made even to foreign countries using these mobile phones. Calls were also found to be made to satellite phones, which led to the suspicion of prisoners being linked with terrorist organisations as making international and satellite calls which are beyond the financial capacity of a prisoner.Only a detailed probe by a specialised investigation agency can bring out the mystery behind the international calls, said the report. The ADGP also recommended that frequent raids should be conducted in all the prisons with the help of armed police to ensure that prisoners did not use mobile phones.
