HYDERABAD: A male MBBS graduate and an Intermediate girl student hanged themselves to death in separate incidents on Friday. Both resorted to the extreme step under academic pressure. In the first incident, S Subba Rao (27) hanged himself to death in his house at Bharat Nagar in Musheerabad police limits when his wife was away. The couple, both MBBS graduates, was preparing for their PG entrance examination, police said.Subba Rao, who hailed from Nizamabad, studied MBBS at Sri Venkateswara University at Tirupati. There he fell in love with a classmate, Archana, and married her nine months ago in consent with the parents of both of them. They were staying in a rented house at Bharat Nagar here and were preparing for PG examination in medicine.Musheerabad police subinspector J Satyanarayana said Subba Rao and Archana went to a library at Padmarao Nagar around 9.30 am. An hour later, Subba Rao told his wife that he was suffering from headache and left for home.Around 1.30 pm, Archana tried to contact him on the phone but received no response. When she went home, she found him hanging from the ceiling fan. Archana, with the help of neighbours, took him to a hospital where he was declared dead.No suicide note was found on him or near the body."Archana is in a state of shock and we are yet to get details from her,’’ the SI said. It is suspected that academic pressure forced Subba Rao to take his own life.A second-year Intermediate student, K Sruthi (18), of Fatehnagar in Balanagar police limits, hanged herself to death in her house fearing poor performance in examinations. In yet another incident, a 14-year girl, Mamata, daughter of a watchman, consumed poison on Thursday allegedly due to unbearable stomach ache.
