9-member gang held for robbery

PUDUCHERRY: A nine-member interstate gang was arrested on Wednesday in connection with two robbery cases.SSP B Srikanth (Law and Order) told reporters that those arrested were Raj @Kaipulla Raj of Vikravandi in TN, Seenu and Karthikeyan from Lawspet, Sivaguru and Prakash Gulabi from Anichembalayam, Raja of Kilinjankuppam, Rajasegar of Thiruchitrambalam Cross Road in TN and Durai from Thattanchavadi.He added that Durai, an employee of the Fisheries department of the Puducherry government, had given information to the other gang members about the movement of cash in the town. The special police team arrested them from a house in Villianur and recovered `1.45 lakh, four two-wheelers and a knife from them.The gang members had waylaid one Suresh near Rangapillai street on February 4 last and looted `2 lakh from him at knifepoint.In another incident on March 15, a private chit firm employee, Mustafa was attacked by three members of the same gang on Rangapillai street and robbed off `1.68 lakh.Two persons - Nolla Anthony and Rajesh - are absconding.
