BANGALORE: Unable to repay debts, seven members of a family tried to end their lives by consuming poison mixed in a soft drink in Subramani Layout in Ramamurthy Nagar police station limits on Saturday. Luckily, they were taken to a hospital by their relative in time to save all seven lives. The persons who tried to end their lives were identified as Muni Reddy, his wife Kavitha, daughters Ankitha and Keerthana, his father Thayanna Reddy, mother Venkatamma and grand mother Muniyamma. Muni Reddy was working as a manager in a cargo company on Tumkur Road. Troubled by heavy debts, Reddy and his family decided to end their lives. On Saturday evening, they consumed a soft drink mixed with poison. Around the time, one of their relatives came home and shifted them to a hospital. As they got medical aid on time, all seven persons recovered.“Before consuming poison, Reddy had written a note expressing his gratitude towards his friends and financiers who had given him loans,” the police said. Ramamurthy Nagar police have registered a case and investigation is on.
