A 55-year-biker from Mangaluru, Karnataka named Sarath Shiri has gone on a solo-bike riding trip from Mangaluru to the the Gulf countries. According to Local18 Kannada, he has tried to spread the message regarding drug addiction by covering approximately 30,000 kilometres on a bike in 60 days.
Shiri had commenced his journey from CSI Hebich Memorial Church, Gorigudda and travelled across Goa, Mumbai, Muscat and Dubai. The biker also covered Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, Qatar, Bahrain, Dubai, Oman, and Turkey and then returned to Mangaluru.
During his travel in the Arab countries, Shiri had an Indian and a Tulu Nadu flag attached to his bike which is a testament to his love for the country and Mangaluru. Mangaluru, the fourth largest (in terms of area and population and a major city of Karnataka is Tulu Nadu’s largest city. Having accomplished the remarkable feat of covering 30,000 kilometres in his 55th year, Shiri is an inspiration to the youth who go for bike rides. On the whole, Shiri has undertaken a lot of bike rides to raise awareness about drug addiction and has been successful in his endeavours. Now, he has also returned to his hometown safely.
In the Local 18 video, Shiri can be seen jubilantly clicking photographs with his fans. He then attaches the necessary backpack required for a long journey. His friends, relatives and other well-wishers are also present to greet him for the journey. The Fathers at CSI Hebich Memorial Church also wish the 55-year-biker and present him with flowers. After receiving blessings from everyone, he starts off his bike and embarks on his mission.
Not only drug addiction, Shiri has undertaken successful bike rides to spread awareness regarding many issues. These issues include a healthy lifestyle, creating a better global environment, waste management etc. He is a businessman by profession and is married to Ms Lizy, employed in the Gulf. Shiri is blessed with a son, Paulon, pursuing his studies in Canada.
