BANGALORE: In a decision to curb traffic offences, the state government has decided to cancel driving licences of those who are involved in more than three accidents.Home Minister R Ashok, speaking after inaugurating the 23rd National Road Safety Week at Sullivan Police Grounds near Ashokanagar police station on Saturday said that government had taken the decision to ensure innocent lives are not lost due to rash and reckless driving. “It is learnt that there are about 800 people in the city who have committed more than three accidents. Police and RTO officials have been asked to withdraw their driving licences,” Ashok said.He also said closed circuit cameras would be set up at 20 points in the city. “This will help identify offenders involved in hit-and-run cases. Such drivers will be dealt with strictly,” he warned.He also said it has been observed that private hospitals were not admitting accident victims thus delaying treatment to them. “Private hospitals should not hesitate to admit accident victims as every second is important to save lives. Even insurance companies should speed up the process of clearing medical expenses of accident victims,” he opined.Expressing concern over youth indulging in drag races, he appealed to parents to warn their wards about the consequences.
