Four suspected members of the Chhota Shakeel gang were arrested for allegedly issuing extortion threats.
New Delhi: Four suspected members of the Chhota Shakeel gang were arrested in Thane district near Mumbai for allegedly issuing extortion threats to two builders, police said in Mumbai on Friday.
The gang members, Asif Abubakr Shaikh, Shabbir alias Shakeel Abubakr Shaikh, Aiyaz Abbas Mallick and Sajid Farooq Shaikh were apprehended on Thursday for allegedly demanding Rs 40 lakh from two builders in Mira Road, police said.
The accused approached the builders, who are business partners, and reportedly asked them for the amount on Wednesday night.
The builders then lodged a complaint with at the Mira Road police and arrested the accused.
