KASARGOD: The police on Sunday have arrested three persons in connection with the military uniform controversy at Milad rally held on February 5. A police team headed by Kanhangad Circle Inspector K V Vengugopal arrested Harshad, 26, Junaid, 21, and Arif, 17, (Arif has been booked under Juvenile Justice Act) all are residents of Meenappis beach area. Though there were three cases registered at Hosdurg and one case at Vallarikund police stations, it is the first- ever arrest made in the case. A group of youth marched with military uniforms during the Milad rally taken out at Kanhangad and Parappa. The controversy broke out as the wearing of uniforms meant for Indian Military without valid reasons is a punishable offence. In the search following the incident, the police had found six military uniforms from houses in Kanhangad on February 8.  Several houses in Adinhal were also raided by the police. The accused were produced before the court and remanded in judicial custody.
