22 Pakala villagers remanded

WARANGAL: Police on Saturday arrested 22 villagers of Pakala in Kodakandla mandal in connection with thrashing and torching a woman for 'practising witchcraft'. All the arrested, on being produced in the court, were sent to remand, Jangaon DSP K R Nagaraju said.Cases were registered against 84 villagers in connection with the incident that took place on June 30. Since the lynching of Anjamma for 'sorcery', many of the villagers are on the run. "We are searching for them," the DSP said.Police are trying to identify the accused in the case with help of video footage. Police picket is continuing in the village.
