BHUBANESWAR: In spite of fluid market conditions, Xaviers Institute of Management, Bhubaneswar, (XIMB) achieved a 100 per cent placement with a 20 per cent hike in salary packages as compared to the previous year. Students of XIMB have been absorbed by both domestic and international companies this year. The institute had, in fact, finished placing its business management students during the first week of January itself. The top package for the business management batch this year was ` 15.5 lakh offered by Reckitt Benckiser company. The previous year’s highest package was ` 10.76 lakh. The students of the rural management (RM) garnered an average salary of ` 6.78 lakh through this placement. OLAM International recruited the lone international placement offering the highest package of this year’s placement $ 50,000. XIMB is specifically recognised across the country for its HR programme and the major takers were for the HR students. Companies like Shapporji Pallonji and L&T Group were the major recruiters in the group. The institute has started a new course in HR, PGDM-HR, in view of the increasing demand of the HR candidates. The first batch of this course will pass out in 2013. Similarly, the agriculture-based business absorbed a majority of the RM students. The highest offer has been made by the company Devgen with ` 9.5 lakh package. “We had a fairly balanced placement season,” informed placement committee coordinator Saveeta Mohanty. “We could see a conservative and cautious trend in the hiring process,” added Mohanty.
