CHENNAI: A man who sold a vacant plot worth Rs 50 lakh belonging to a non-resident-Indian (NRI) was arrested by the anti-land grab unit and was remanded to judicial custody here on Tuesday.Police said that B Ramalingam, working in Sharjah, had bought a 2,520 sq ft plot in VGP Sandhanammal Nagar. During one of his trips back to India, he found a sign board stating that the property belonged to someone else. A check on the corresponding survey number revealed that two sale deeds were executed on the property, one to Subbulakshmi and the other to Suresh Kumar Jain, through impersonation. Ramalingam lodged a complaint with the anti-land grab unit who found that Kumaraguru and Deva Anbu were behind the fake sale. They were remanded to judicial custody.
