In a gruesome and shocking incident in Andhra Pradesh, two auto drivers allegedly raped, murdered a minor girl, and hanged the victim on the roof of her house with a saree to give a suicide angle.
The incident took place in a remote village in Gudema Kotha Veedhi Mandal of Alluri Sitarama Raju district, Andhra Pradesh.
Pratap Siva Kishore, Additional Superintendent of Police (ASP) Chintapalli Sub-division arrested the two accused on Wednesday, adding that the parents of the victim went for work at farm, when the incident took place on January 2.
The accused, Pangi Ramesh was aware that the minor girl was alone at home. Taking advantage of the situation, Ramesh threatened the minor and forcibly took her to another house. Children of the village became evidence to the fact that the 19-year-old auto driver took the girl to another house.
In absence of her parents, the girl informed her relatives that Ramesh raped her. Scared of the consequences, Ramesh narrated the entire incident to his friend, Seetanna, who is also an auto driver.
The duo decided to kill the girl before her parents return back to home. Ramesh and Seetanna entered the house of the girl with an intention to kill her, but before attempting the plot, they again raped her.
Later they strangulated her to death by tying a saree to her neck. They hanged the victim to the roof of her house in order to show that she committed suicide and then fled from her residence.
When the parents returned, they were shocked to see the lifeless body of their daughter hanging on the roof. It was during the last rites when the parents saw some injuries to the body and performed the funeral. Later, they filed a complaint at Gudema Kotha Veedhi police station on January 5.
Based on the complaint, Ashok Kumar, circle inspector and Appalasuri, sub inspector went to the village and investigated the case from different angles.
The exhumed body was then investigated by the doctors, who conducted the post-mortem. Sensing the trouble, both the accused surrendered before the police and unfolded the entire crime.
A case of sexual assault, murder and POCSO are registered against the two accused.
