Vijay Devarakonda-starrer Family Star’s Release Date Postponed: Report

Vijay Devarakonda redeemed himself after last year’s Liger debacle, with his latest film Kushi that released earlier this year. The movie, which also stars Samantha Ruth Prabhu, did good business at the box office and has been streaming on Netflix since October 1. This is good news for Vijay Deverakonda, as he faced a double whammy with both Liger’s failure and the shelving of the big budget film, Jana Gana Mana. The movie was supposed to be directed by Liger director Puri Jagannadh. It got shelved after some portions were shot, due to their previous collaboration Liger failing. After the success of Kushi, Vijay Devarakonda started prepping for his next film titled Family Star; but it looks like the makers have already faced a minor blow.

Family Star was being prepared as a Sankranti release; the premiere date was initially fixed for January next year. Latest reports suggest that the movie has been postponed since its filming is not yet complete. The team worked very hard to finish the shoot by the end of the year and make it to Sankranthi on schedule. Now, it appears unfeasible to wrap up filming and get Family Star ready for Sankranthi.

According to reports, a lengthy US schedule for Family Star was delayed by months, as the team did not get the visas on time. This issue has delayed the shoot, and other works are also pending.

Family Star also stars Mrunal Thakur and is directed by Parashuram Petla. With several films slated for release around Sankranthi, there is fierce competition. Producer Dil Raju and his team have opted to skip the Sankranthi race and instead release their movie in the summer, since the season is ideal for the genre of Family Star. Earlier, there were reports that the release has been postponed to February, but sources now suggest it would release in summer. An official announcement on the same is awaited soon.
