Mass entertainer movies are particularly liked by the youth. Due to this reason, actors who make their debut in cinema, prefer to churn out films in this genre. Actor Upendra Kancharla has also tried his hand at a film titled Upendra Gadi Adda with a similar genre. Savithri Krishna has essayed the female lead in this movie.

Directed by Aryan Subhan, it is produced by Kancharla Achyuta Rao under the SSLS Creations banner. It was released on the big screens on December 1. Did the film manage to captivate the users or proved to be a monotonous watch? Let’s find out.

Storyline

Upendra (Upendra Kancharla) hails from the rural areas in the Banjara Hills. He is solely focused on earning money in the easiest ways possible. He aims to marry a girl from a millionaire family and to achieve this goal, constantly goes to pubs. He does so even after being debt-ridden. In this process, he happens to meet Savitri (Savithri Krishna). Savitri flaunts her affluent status and Upendra, who was searching for a similar life partner falls in love with her. Savitri also reciprocates his feelings. There is a twist in the story when Upendra reveals to Savitri his poor background. Did Savitri go on to marry him despite knowing his financial status? Is Savitri lying about her well-off financial status? Has she impersonated the identity of someone? These questions form the premise of Upendra Gadi Adda.

Direction

Upendra Gadi Adda is an interesting combination of mass entertaining elements and a social message. The film describes how social media’s negative influence can harm the youth. The director Aryan Subhan has also shown that people can go on to deceive others, especially women on social media sites. The second half of the film particularly focussed on the increasing crime rate due to social media. Parents have also been advised to remain vigilant regarding the issue of women’s trafficking. The first half is engrossing as well with both the leads entertaining the audience with humorous scenes.

Acting

On the acting front, Upendra Kancharla has performed brilliantly in his character. He has performed well in the dance and fight sequences. Savithri Krishna, who essayed the female lead, also showcased commendable acting skills. Comedians from the show Jabardasth including Apparao were entertaining in their roles. Muralidhar Goud and actress Prabhavathi were impressive in Upendra’s parents’ roles. Kireeti Damaraju, Sandhya Janak and Busstop Koteshwara Rao also did an amazing job.

Technical Aspects

The cinematography and music are plus points of this film. Editing is fine but it should have been more engaging.
