Tinder Read Receipts: How They Work & Are They Worth It?

Does Tinder have read receipts?

Tinder has read receipts, but they're not turned on by default. Tinder read receipts allow you to know when your message has been read. If you enable read receipts in the Tinder app, you can see if the other person looked at your message a few hours ago and still hasn't responded, or if they haven't opened it at all.

To use read receipts on Tinder, you'll need to buy them. You can buy one or more read receipts at a time and add them to specific chats. Once you activate the read receipt you've purchased in a conversation, you'll get read receipts for all messages you receive in that conversation only. 1 read receipt = $2.99. 5 read receipts = $15 10 read receipts = $20 20 read receipts = $30

What Read Receipts Look Like

If your match has viewed your message, you'll see two checkmarks. You'll see two checkmarks under your sent message. The other person will not know you've enabled read receipts for the conversation. If the person you're chatting with has disabled read receipts in the Tinder app, you will not be able to use read receipts with that user.

How to Get Read Receipts

Open a chat in the Tinder app. You can only buy read receipts within a conversation. Read receipts are not included with any paid Tinder plans.

Tap Get Read Receipts. It's a blue bubble below the last message you sent. If the person you're chatting with has read receipts disabled, you won't be able to buy a read receipt for this conversation.

Select a bundle and tap Continue. Choose whether you want to buy an individual read receipt for this conversation or a bundle you can apply to chats with other matches. Once you tap Continue, read receipts will be active in this conversation. If the other person turned off read receipts, you won't see your read receipts if you tried to turn them on. Instead, you get to keep the read receipt bundle and use it in another conversation.

How to Turn Off Read Receipts

Open your Tinder Settings. To get here, tap your profile icon in the app, then tap the gear.

Tap Manage Read Receipts. You'll have to scroll to find this red header.

Tap the switch to turn off "Send Read Receipts" Android 7 Switch Off. The switch will be grey and pointing left if the feature is off. You can't accidentally enable read receipts without buying a bundle and toggling the switch on, nor can anyone you're talking with use read receipts in your conversations. You can repeat these steps and toggle on the switch if you want to activate read receipts.

Are read receipts worth it?

Read receipts might be worth it, depending on why you want them. Read receipts can relieve stress and anxiety about whether your Tinder match has seen your message, but they can also mean nothing. For example, if you sent a message an hour ago and you see they haven't read it, you might think they are purposefully ignoring your messages, but they could just be busy. And if they have read your message but not responded, you might take it personally even though they might just be at work, school, or doing something that requires their full attention.
