Enter the photo booth. Know that you must pay 500 bells to take your picture for the first time, or retake it. The photo booth is found to the left of Main Street, next to Katrina's shop (if you don't have Katrina's shop, it will be a door with a bin in front of it). The photo booth is open all day, unless you are playing multiplayer.
Use the countdown. Players will receive three seconds to time the character's emotion before the picture is taken. Emotions can be gained by giving food to Dr. Shrunk in Club LOL. Emotions are not necessary for your ID photo, but can add a personal touch. All your emotions will be on the bottom screen. There are forty emotions in total, but depending on how far you have gotten in the game, you may not have them all.
Change the photograph style. You have the option to change the colour of your photo, if you wish. Hold the L button to get a black and white photo. Hold the R button to get a sepia tone photo.
Retake your picture if necessary. You can retake pictures as many times as you want for free before leaving the booth.
