Preparing the Pear
Choose fresh fruit over canned. When canned, some of the nutrients are lost in the process, especially when processed with syrup. Look for plump and firm fruit that does not appear to be discolored nor have dents.
Wash the pear. Rinse the fruit under running water to allow any dirt be removed.
Chill in advance. For the best results of the dish, it's advisable to refrigerate the pears in advance for a day or two, at the most.
Cut the pear in half. The skin of the pear can be left on, as it holds more dietary fiber than the actual fruit.
Core the pears. Use a melon baller or knife to remove the core of the pear.
Assembling the Salad
Lay the lettuce on a plate. Select a good proportional size that fits the plate for the best appearance.
Add the pear to the lettuce. Make sure that the cut sliced part is flat on the middle of the lettuce. Position the narrow (smaller) end upwards to represent the face.
Decorate the bunny. Add the raisins for the eyes, cinnamon candy for the nose, and almonds on the sides for the ears.
Form the tail. Using a spoon and your hand, mold a small ball of cottage cheese and place it in the corner of the bottom of the bunny.
Finished.
