Cleaning the Hubs
Remove the front and rear wheels to get to the hubs. To do so, take your socket wrench and spin. Lefty loosey, righty tighty.
Loosen the two bolts that appear on the axle after removing the front and rear wheels. Make sure you loosen the bolts at an even pace on both sides. This way, when you screw them back on, it's not off-center.
Locate the bearings. When these bolts are loose, there may be a few rings, caps, etc., but you should be able to see the bearings.
Remove any dirt or sand.
Take some of your lube and put a generous amount on it.
Tighten the bolts at an equal pace and tighten them enough so there is no wheel play and they spin nicely. Do this for front and back wheels.
Cleaning the Headset
Take apart your headset to clean. This is probably the easiest part to clean.
Take your socket wrench and loosen the compression bolt on the top of the stem.
Loosen the bolts on the side of your stem; when they are loose, the bars and stem should slide off.
Slide off spacers and caps.
Lift the frame so that the bearing at the bottom will be revealed.
Remove any dirt or sand.
Apply a generous amount of lube.
Put on your cap, any spacers, and your stem, and then re-tighten your bolts.
