How to Get Unbanned from a Discord Server
How to Get Unbanned from a Discord Server
Bans in Discord can be very annoying, especially when you think you've been treated unfairly! In this article, we'll explain how to request to be unbanned, with the maximum chance of being accepted.
Steps

Contacting a Staff Member

Check your DMs. If the moderator banned you using a bot, the bot will have most likely sent you a DM, which might contain instructions of how to appeal your ban, such as a link to a website or Google Form.

Google the Discord server's name. They might have a website with a handy ban appeal form, or a Twitter account with direct messages enabled.

Message a server moderator directly, if you know their username. If you don't have any mutual servers, you'll need to send them a friend request.

Get a friend to help you. As long as your friends aren't banned from the server, they can join and send you the username of a moderator, or message a moderator on your behalf. Make sure you don't use an alternative account, as this breaks Discord's Terms of Service!

Asking to be Unbanned

Realise why you were banned. Even if you think the ban was a mistake, think what happened just before you got banned, and what might have brought on the moderator's action.

Choose whether to deny it or apologise. If you think it was a mistake or you weren't actually breaking a rule, you can deny that the ban was called for. If you made a mistake, it might be better to accept the mistake and apologise to the moderator.

Be kind and respectful towards the moderator at all times. You need to remember that they are human beings giving up their time for free to keep the platform fun for everyone. Being abusive or spamming them is rude and definitely won't help you get unbanned!

Explain what happened. Moderators might not remember what happened just from your username, they might need to hear again exactly what happened.

Explain why you should be unbanned. You can either oppose the ban, or apologise, but some common phrases include: I'm really sorry, I've learnt from my mistake and won't do this again That isn't actually what happened, that user faked a screenshot to frame me I don't think this is fair because...

Accept the result. If the moderator decides to unban you, make sure to thank them and learn from your mistake! A permanent ban being made temporary should be seen as a good outcome, because you can return to the community. If the moderator doesn't unban you, you should ask why they rejected you and then explain why that isn't right. But if they refuse to unban you, you must remain respectful and accept that decision.

Evading a ban

Sometimes, server moderators are corrupt and do not unban you. Therefore, you may need to evade the ban. Note that this is against TOS so you should be careful to avoid being caught.

Create a new Discord account. It is recommended to use a private window for this so that it is not linked to your main account.

Use a VPN. A VPN is needed to bypass a ban. A good free option is ProtonVPN, while there are also paid options like NordVPN.

Rejoin the server.

Do not provide information that could link your new and old accounts, otherwise you could be caught and banned from all of Discord.

What's your reaction?
