Finding out which hashtags and topics are trending on Twitter helps you stay on top of the hottest emerging topics of discussion. This wikiHow article teaches you how to check what is trending on Twitter on any device.
Things You Should Know
  • You must be logged in to Twitter to view trending topics in the mobile app and on Twitter.com.

Using a Computer

Login to Twitter (X). Go to https://twitter.com on your web browser and sign in with your username and password. When you log in to Twitter in a web browser, you can see some trending topics and hashtags in the "What's Happening" box to the right of your Twitter feed. To check what's trending on Twitter, you'll need to sign in to an account. However, there are other ways you can view Twitter without an account.

Click Explore. It's the magnifying glass at the top of the menu bar on the left-hand side.

Click the Trending tab. It's the second tab at the top of the page. This displays a list of the current topics and hashtags that are trending on Twitter. Click a trending topic or hashtag to see the tweets behind the trend.

Using the Mobile App

Launch the X app on your Android, iPhone, or iPad. Now that Twitter has rebranded to "X," its icon is a black square with a white "X." If you have not downloaded the X app, you can download it for free from the App Store (iPhone and iPad) or the Google Play Store (Android). You need to log in to your Twitter account to check trending topics. Alternatively, go to https://mobile.twitter.com in your mobile web browser and log into your account. Twitter no longer lets you view trending topics or other tweets using their mobile app or website without logging in. However, there are other ways to view Twitter without an account.

Tap Android 7 Search. It's the magnifying glass icon at the bottom of the screen. This displays the Search page, where you'll see a few trending topics.

Tap the Trending tab. It's the second tab at the top of the page. This displays a list of the current trending topics and hashtags. Tap a trending topic or hashtag to display a Twitter search results page for that topic or hashtag.

Changing Your Trending Location

Change your trending location on a computer. This will allow you to view trending topics from other locations. Use the following steps to change your trending location on a computer: Log in to Twitter.com. Click More in the menu bar to the left. Click Support and Settings. Click Settings and privacy. Click Privacy and safety. Click Content you see. Click Explore settings. Uncheck "Show content in this location." Click Explore Locations. Enter the name of a city or country and press Enter." Navigate to the Trending page.

Change your location using the mobile app. This will allow you to view trending topics from other places. Use the following steps to change your trending location using the mobile app. Tap your profile icon or ☰. Tap Settings & Support. Tap Settings and privacy. Tap Privacy and safety. Tap Content you see. Tap Explore settings. Tap the toggle switch next to "Show content in this location" (disable it). Tap Explore locations. Enter the name of a city or country. Navigate to the Trending page.

Using GetDayTrends

Go to https://getdaytrends.com in a web browser. If you don't want to sign into a Twitter account to see what's trending, this website allows you to check Twitter trends worldwide or from specific countries without logging in. It also allows you to check trending topics for a specific date and time and graphs these trending topics.

Select a country. Tap the drop-down menu at the top of the page and then tap one of the countries listed. If you want to see what is trending worldwide, leave it as "World Wide."

Select a date. To do so, click or tap the calendar icon next to "Today" at the top of the page. Then select the date you want to check. If you want to check current trending topics, leave it as "Today."

Select a time. If you are checking a previous day, click or tap the time you want to check at the top of the page. If you are checking today's trending topics, click or tap the hour you want to check at the time. If you want to check the current trending topics, leave it as "Now."

Check the trending topics. All trending topics are displayed in a list below the time and date at the top of the page.

View a graph of the trending topic. Tap a topic to view a graph of how the topic has been trending over time. Tap one of the options above the graph to adjust the timeframe of the graph.

Check if a specific topic is trending. If you want to check if a specific topic or hashtag is trending, enter the topic or hashtag in the search bar in the upper-right corner and press Enter. This displays a graph of the topic, which allows you to see how well it has trended over time. Click one of the options above the graph to change the timeline of the entire graph.

Using IamRohit.in

Go to https://twitter-trends.iamrohit.in in a web browser. This displays a list of all the current trending Twitter. This tool easily allows you to check what is trending on Twitter in your location or any other country without having to log in to your account.

Select a country. To do so, click Select Country at the top of the page. Then click or tap a country. This will display trending topics from that country. Alternatively, you can scroll down to the bottom of the page and click a state or country to see what is trending in that location.
