How to Avoid Getting Stung by Wasps in Animal Crossing: New Horizons
How to Avoid Getting Stung by Wasps in Animal Crossing: New Horizons
Do you want to go shake trees to get furniture or bells (currency) in Animal Crossing: New Horizons? Many players want/need to do this at some point in the game. However, there is a possible bad outcome to this; accidentally shaking a wasp's nest from a tree, and then being pursued endlessly by the wasps until they sting you. However, there are ways to avoid getting a painful (and costly) sting from these creatures. It takes some quick thinking skills, but you can avoid getting stung by wasps in Animal Crossing: New Horizons.

NOTE: These tricks are designed for the newest game, Animal Crossing: New Horizons, but some of these could also be used for the predecessor, Animal Crossing: New Leaf. Some locations and methods, however, may differ.
Steps

Running Away From the Wasps

Start running as soon as you see the wasp nest fall from the tree. When you see the nest fall out of the tree, don't wait for the wasps to come and start pursuing you; this will almost guarantee you getting stung. Instead, take off right when the nest falls, to ensure you get a bit of a headstart. That could mean the difference between safety and getting stung.

Make a beeline for the nearest building. Whether it be Resident Services, your house, or even a neighbor's house, dash for the first building you see. Don't dance around in circles, and don't take a detour. Just head straight for a building. Take caution with sprinting to a neighbor's house. They may not be home, and you will be delayed even more, because you can't go into a neighbor's house if no one is home.

Exit the game, and enter back in again after 60 seconds if all else fails and you get stung. The sting will probably go away, and you won't have to waste precious bells on medicine.

Catching the Wasps With a Net

Make sure you have a net on hand to catch bugs with before you do anything. If you don't have the proper tools, your efforts will be pointless. If you need one, you can make one with sticks (found near trees in New Horizons), or you can just buy one. In Animal Crossing: New Leaf, you aren't able to make tools. Instead, you must buy them with bells.

Right when the nest falls from the tree, swing your net upon the nest. You should be able to catch the wasp, which you can either donate to the Museum or sell for a good price.

Reacting if You Get Stung

Don't freak out. After some people's first experience with wasp nests, they may be afraid to ever shake another tree again. However, do not have this mindset. If you end up being afraid of bugs in the game, you won't get very far, so try to have a can-do attitude with these creatures.

Go to Timmy and Tommy's shop. This is either T&T Mart (New Leaf) or Nook's Cranny (New Horizons). You will need to buy medicine from this place. Nookling Junction, the most basic of Timmy and Tommy's stores in ACNL, does not carry medicine. You will have to "cure" the stings manually (by exiting and re-entering the game) if you have not upgraded to the T&T Mart yet. If you have not unlocked Nook's Cranny in Animal Crossing: New Horizons, go to Tom Nook's building. One of the Nook twins sells and buys things in a corner of the tent.

Buy the medicine. Medicine costs 400 Bells, which should not be too hard to get. If you are having trouble finding the way to pay for the medicine, pick up the wasp's nest and sell it, either at Re-tail or Nook's Cranny. You'll get 500 bells for it, which will cover the medicine and give you a bit of extra pocket Bells.

Open your inventory and take the medicine once you have purchased it. It is advised not to wait until you get to a certain place, because the bee stings are a bit of an eyesore.

What's your reaction?
