Thunderbolts, helmed by Jake Schreier, is rumoured to assemble a team of Marvel’s antiheroes and antagonists. As of now, Florence Pugh, Sebastian Stan, David Harbour and Wyatt Russell are confirmed to join the project.

Marvel had not officially verified Yeun’s casting news, which was initially reported in February, 2023. Presently, it remains uncertain if the Sentry’s role will undergo changes or if the makers will recast the actor. Meanwhile, production for the film halted in May due to the SAG-AFTRA strike and filming has not commenced yet following the conclusion of the strikes involving writers and actors. According to Deadline, production was pushed to 2024, due to which Yeun decided to exit from the project as there were scheduling conflicts with his other productions.

After Steven Yeun’s departure, the Thunderbolts cast includes Julia Louis-Dreyfus as Contessa Valentina Allegra de la Fontaine, Florence Pugh as Yelena Belova, David Harbour as Red Guardian, Sebastian Stan as Bucky Barnes, Olga Kurylenko taking on Taskmaster and Wyatt Russell as John Walker. The Bear fame Ayo Edebiri has also joined the cast in a mystery role. Although details of the film’s plot are kept tightly under wraps, the comic book focuses on a group of villains, who are given government commissioned missions.

Recently, Steven Yeun showcased his talent alongside Ali Wong in Netflix’s Beef, for which the actor garnered a Golden Globe nomination for Best Male Actor in a Limited Series. On the work front, Yeun is set to appear in Bong Joon Ho’s sci-fi thriller Mickey 17, alongside Robert Pattinson, followed by Love Me with Kristen Stewart.
