New Delhi: Portuguese tactician and Inter coach Jose Mourinho believes that Nemanja Vidic should be disqualified from playing the two matches against his side.
According to Mourinho, Manchester United defender Nemanja Vidic should be given at least a two-match ban for his red card in the Club World Cup final, forcing him to miss his side’s Champions League last 16 ties against Inter Milan.
The Serbian defender was sent off for elbowing striker Claudio Bieler in the face in United's 1-0 win over Liga de Quito and will serve his punishment in European competition with UEFA yet to decide the length of any ban.
Speaking on the matter Mourinho said, "I would be amazed if Vidic did not get at least two matches, which could be too little for a gesture like that in a match seen by the whole world."
It is unlikely that the coach’s words will have any sway with European football’s governing body, but the final punishment may see the Serbian player miss out on one or two of this season’s key matches against the Italians.
