Manchester United forward Marcus Rashford is a true motor enthusiast and owns many luxury cars. It seems he likes to be in the fast lane. Rashford was reportedly caught speeding in a Rolls-Royce car on the M60 motorway in December last year. He was driving the Cullinan Blue Shadow which costs around £560,000 (around Rs 6 crore). According to a report by the Sun, Rashford breached the speed limit of the motorway, clocking more than 70mph. He later admitted the overspeeding offence through a single justice procedure.
The report claimed that Marcus Rashford would be sentenced at Manchester and Salford Magistrates’ Court on September 27. His club Manchester United and Greater Manchester Police have not yet revealed any details about the case.
The incident happened merely two months after Rashford encountered a low-speed crash outside of the Carrington training ground.
Rashford was reportedly leaving for his home following a Premier League win over Burnley. He was riding another Rolls-Royce car, a £700,000 (around Rs 7.5 crore) Black Badge Wraith, which got damaged due to the collision. The Manchester United star and the driver of the other vehicle, however, didn’t sustain any injury.
A spokesperson of the club later shared details of the accident, which took place on September 27. He said, “Marcus is fine and was not injured. It was an accidental collision as he left the training ground after returning from Burnley. It was an incident involving his car and one driven by a member of the public. Thankfully both were uninjured and no ambulance was required,” as quoted by the Mirror.
A source close to the outlet further revealed that Manchester United captain Bruno Fernandes was also present outside the Carrington training ground back then. “Bruno stopped because he saw his teammate and obviously he was worried about him and the woman driver. So he made sure they were both fine and able to leave the scene without any problems,” the person told Mirror.
Marcus Rashford had a sub-par season. Manchester United might have won the FA Cup but their performance in the Premier League was quite underwhelming. The Red Devils managed only 18 wins throughout the season and finished eighth in the league standings. Rashford made 33 appearances in the Premier League and could score only seven goals. He has also been dropped from England’s preliminary squad for Euro 2024.
