London: Former Barcelona coach Pep Guardiola may replace Roberto Mancini at Manchester City, according to a report published in the Sun on Sunday, after the former Barcelona manager said last week that he is ready to return to coaching after a one-year sabbatical.
Guardiola, 41, coached Barcelona to win 14 trophies while being at the helm of FCB for four years. The report said the reason for Guardiola choosing City over Chelsea is because he reckons the Abu-Dhabi owned club, which is the defending Premier League champion, is more likely to challenge the might of other European clubs.
Mancini, on the other hand, has been unable to guide the glitzy City team into the Champions League knockout stage on two occasions.
"It is 100 percent certain that Guardiola is going to City this summer," the report quoted a high-level source in Spanish football. "And when I say 100 percent I don't mean 99 per cent, I mean 100 per cent!"
The report also said that Guardiola is set to become the highest-paid manager in England at 10 million pounds a year.
