Time and tide waits for none. Well, Erling Haaland doesn’t either. The lethal Manchester City striker has lit the Premier League up with his relentless hunger for goals and at 24 years of age, he has done it in quite some blistering fashion.
The Norwegian has been breaking records at a ridiculous pace, and there seems to be no stopping him either, as he netted a fantastic hattrick against Ipswich Town last night, taking his tally of hattricks scored for City to 10.
Haaland became the quickest player to 50 Premier League goals, taking just 48 matches to hit the half-century. Andy Cole took 65 games; Alan Shearer needed 66 games; Ruud van Nistelrooy hit his first 50 in 68 matches; while Mo Salah and Fernando Torres each required 72 appearances.
In the same breath, the menacing striker also broke the record for most goals in a single Premier League season in his debut campaign for Manchester City, scoring 36 goals in his 35 appearances, to beat Andy Cole and Alan Shearer (who both set the record in 42-game campaigns).
And now to add to the amazement with another ridiculous stat, Haaland has scored against all 23 opponents he has faced in the Premier League, the most recent being Ipswich.
With such greatness comes comparisons with the best to ever do it, and a look at the same showcases a mind-boggling statistic which talks to Haaland’s unprecedented greatness.
Comparing the Norwegian with the likes of Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi, all at the age of 24, shows us that Haaland reigns supreme over the two greats with resepct to his goalscoring prowess.

Haaland has not only scored more goals (260) than the two legends at the age of 24, but has also done the same in a lesser nuber of games as well.
And with his hattrick yesterday, his seventh in the PL, the City man has also inched one step closer to equalling yet another record set by a Premier League legend, Sergio Aguero, for the most hattricks scored in the Premier League by a single player (12).
City manager Pep Guardiola has been taking notice of the same, propping him up to the levels of the two greats Ronaldo and Messi, given his impeccable consistency.
“He has the numbers for Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo, who controlled the last decade, 15 years, absolutely everything. In terms of numbers, it is that level. So, I don’t know how he does it, but in 100 games scoring 91 goals is something in the Premier League, in this country, is unbelievable,” stated Guardiola after his side’s 2-0 win over Chelsea in their seaosn opener last week.
