Vicky Kaushal and Katrina Kaif tied the knot in a lavish wedding ceremony in December 2021 in Sawai Madhopur, Rajasthan. The lovebirds are known to be one of the most loved couples of Bollywood with many of their fans waiting for them to be paired opposite each other in a film for the first time. In 2019, reports started doing the rounds that the duo has been roped in for a tragic love story that will be backed by producer Ronnie Screwvala but it was soon revealed that it was a mere speculation. However, needless to say, their chemistry as is evident from their loved up pictures on social media has won the hearts of many.
In an exclusive chat with News18 Showsha, Vicky speaks about his desire of sharing screen space with his ladylove. He goes on to reveal that they keep receiving offers to star in a film together but they’re in no hurry to do to the same just because brand VicKat will help a project grab a lot of eyeballs. “Yes, we get offers to do films together. But the right thing would be to get cast in films because we fit the part. We shouldn’t do a film because there’s curiosity to see two people together,” points out the Raazi and Zara Hatke zara Bachke actor.
For Vicky and Katrina, being the right fit to play the characters is more important than just being a gimmick to gain wider publicity. Sharing his thoughts, he adds, “The makers should genuinely feel like we’re perfect for the roles irrespective of our relationship. That’s when it will add value to the film in the truest sense. So, we’re waiting for that kind of an opportunity. We should organically fit into those characters. Only then will it work well.”
Apart from his love-struck pictures with Katrina, Vicky’s fans are also fond of his Instagram for his Punjabi dance and music videos. In fact, last year, Katrina in an interview had stated that her favourite thing about Vicky is his love for music, dancing and singing. She further revealed that her husband is a good singer and she often asks him to sing to her while going to sleep.
Reacting to her words, Vicky blushes and says, “Usne pyaar mein bola hoga (laughs).” Having played musicians in films like Manmarziyaan and The Great Indian Family, has he ever been approached to go behind the mic and don the hat of a singer? “I’ve never received offers to sing in films. It’s only during interviews that I’m asked to sing. I can’t sing! Katrina might think that I’m a great singer but I’m not. I’m not even a good singer (laughs). I can only hum,” shares the actor, who will next be seen in filmmaker Meghna Gulzar’s Sam Bahadur.
