Anjini Dhawan Feels 'No Pressure' of Being Varun Dhawan's Niece: 'I Never Had Guts to Tell David Chachu…' | Exclusive
Anjini Dhawan calls herself the 'biggest fans' of the Dhawans. She reveals why she signed her debut film Binny And Family without telling her parents.

The third generation of the Dhawans – Anjini Dhawan – is all set to make her Bollywood debut with Binny And Family. For the unversed, she’s Anil Dhawan’s granddaughter and Varun Dhawan’s niece. Varun, in fact, attended the trailer launch of Anjini’s film on August 30 to show his support. He praised the trailer, calling it ‘heart-touching,’ and lauded her for bagging the film on her own despite belonging to a film family. Later, he took to social media to share the trailer and welcomed Anjini to the world of movies.

In an exclusive chat with News18 Showsha, Anjini says that she’s extremely happy to have a star like Varun in the family and that she doesn’t ever feel the pressure of living up to his feats. “Varun’s journey is very inspiring. And I never felt the burden of achieving what he has. I’m very proud of the family I come from. I’m very excited about watching all their movies. I’m the biggest fan of the Dhawans. If anything, I only get to learn from them,” she tells us.

Much like Anjini, Varun also didn’t get launched by his father, David Dhawan. For her, requesting her family to helm her debut was ‘out of the question.’ Talking about it, she says, “It was never even a conversation. It was understood. I never had the guts to go up to David chachu and say that he should launch me. It has never been like that in my family. The mantra of our family is that you’ll achieve what you genuinely deserve. And once you do that, you’ll have everyone’s love, support, and blessings. And that’s exactly what has happened.”

Anjini further reveals that she didn’t even inform her family while she was in the process of being finalized for Binny And Family. “Everyone found out that I’m making my acting debut only after I signed the film. I didn’t want to tell them because I knew there would’ve been a hundred opinions. And I was so confident that Binny And Family was the film I wanted to start my career with because the story was very personal to me, and I didn’t want to get confused. Much like everyone else, I do get influenced by my family. It’s just that I wanted this decision to be mine alone,” she elaborates.

Binny And Family tells the story of three generations of a family and the lack of communication between them. It also stars Pankaj Kapur, Himani Shivpuri, Rajesh Kumar, and Charu Shankar. So, was she nervous about sharing screen space with such seasoned actors? “I was, but that was before going on set. Once I reached the set, they made me very comfortable. So, I was fine. There’s no room for that when you’re in front of the camera and enacting your scenes with them. You have to focus on your performance and the film. If you’re tense, phir toh sab udhar hi khatam ho gaya!” Anjini states.
