UPSC Coaching Centre Death: Who Is The Owner Of Rau's IAS Study Circle?

After the unfortunate deaths of three students at the Rau’s IAS Study Circle in Delhi, the students have taken to the streets to showcase their anger with the situation. As per the reports, the fatalities occurred on Saturday night at the centre. The authorities have arrested several individuals, which include the owner of the establishment. Do you know who they are? On Sunday, the Delhi Police arrested the academy’s owner and CEO Abhishek Gupta and the coordinator, Deshpal Singh. Reports state that the two were sent to judicial custody for a period of 14-day.

Going by Abhishek’s LinkedIn profile, he has been the CEO of the academy for more than 15 years, where he started in February, 2009. He worked as an analyst at Watson Wyatt, between the years of 2004 and 2006, where he started his career. After that he worked at the Evalueserve, for a year as a Business Analyst. This job was followed by a post at the Jones Lang LaSalle, where he worked in the corporate solutions department. He worked here for a period of 1.6 years, starting from January, 2007 to June, 2008.

Abhishek Gupta completed his school education from the Modern School in Delhi, between 1988 to 2001. Then he completed his graduation from Shaheed Sukhdev College of Business Studies, between the years of 2001 and 2004.

After the death of the three young students due to drowning, the Delhi Police arrested seven people, including Abhishek Gupta. Cases were registered against the arrested for causing death by negligence.

According to the academy’s website, Rau’s IAS Study Circle was established 70 years ago, in 1953. The founder of the institution was Dr S Rau, whose name was given to the academy. More information states that initially only the subject of political science was taught here. Dr Rau taught the subject at a small hotel room, located in Connaught Place. Gradually, the academy started to gain recognition and it started functioning as an IAS Academy.
