The University of Kashmir has postponed the exams scheduled for January 8 and 9. This decision has been taken as the Valley is currently receiving heavy snowfall. The second-semester exam of LLM has been postponed while the UG 2nd Year Exam and UG 6th Semester Exam have been cancelled for now. Fresh dates for all the three examinations will be released later by the authorities.
As of now, an official statement has informed that the second-semester exam of LLM will be held on January 14. The time and venue of the exam will remain the same.
As reported, till now, a sub-inspector of Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) and a woman were killed because of the heavy snowfall in Kashmir. More than 100 structures have been damaged because of the continuous snowfall across the state. An incident of houses collapsing due to the snowfall was also caught on camera.
The CRPF in its statement had mentioned that the officer deployed at Hazratbal in Srinagar died after a shed collapsed. The woman who died came under a snow avalanche in Kupwara's Trehgam area.
Currently, the assessment of the damage that has been caused due to this weather condition is being carried out. The entire situation will be clear after a couple of days when the process of assessment is complete.
Meanwhile, people across the country have hit out at Union Territory administration for failing at clearing the snow and restoring services. What is further shocking is that even in a city like Srinagar, the roads continue to be blocked because of the snow. The concerned department has been continuously saying that they are working on clearing roads, restoring power and water supply.
Meanwhile, Air traffic between Kashmir and the rest of the country was restored on Thursday, January 9. The air traffic had been suspended due to high and continuous snowfall.
