Who is Agni Chopra: Son of ‘12th Fail’ Director Who Smashed 258 Runs on Ranji Trophy Debut
Agni Chopra managed to make a smashing debut in the Ranji Trophy scoring a century and a quickfire half-century as well to begin his first-class career.

Agni Chopra, the son of well-renowned Bollywood film director, Vidhu Vinod Chopra who is currently earning massive plaudits for his latest film ’12th fail’, managed to make his mark in the Ranji Trophy as he managed to make a century on debut representing Mizoram.

In the first innings, Chopra managed to score 166 off 179 deliveries consisting of 19 boundaries and seven maximums to drag Mizoram to 214. He was the only batter to get a significant total while seven batters managed to get dismissed for ducks. Despite the valiant knock, the side was asked to follow on where the batter again managed to score big with 92 runs coming quickly as the rest of the batting unit managed to put on some runs to score 397 in the second innings. For Sikkim, it was the pair of Sumit Singh and Ashish Thapa where the former managed to bring up a century while the latter just missed out on the triple-figure score.

Agni Chopra was born in Detroit, Michigan, and has been having a good run of form with the bat having scored two half-centuries in the List-A format for Mizoram earlier in December as well. He also had a decent contribution where he scored 76 against Jammu and Kashmir in the T20 format.

However, the efforts were in vain as Sikkim managed to walk away with the victory by four wickets on Day 4 of the game. In the second innings, Mohit Jangra’s 126 was crucial in setting a target of 170. Mizoram managed to fight back with the ball as the duo of KC Cariappa and Mohit Jangra managed to take six wickets between each other but Sikkim got the win thanks to the same duo of Ashish Thapa and Sumit Singh both of whom scored half-centuries to lead the side to the target.

Mizoram will look to get to winnings ways having just played the singular match in the Ranji Trophy so far. Currently, Hyderabad and Meghalaya top the plate group with seven points each in one game so far.

Despite the loss, Agni Chopra managed to put in a massive shift for his side with the contributions with the bat as the side will hope that he continues his good run of form in the tournament.
