'Weathered The Challenge...': Jasprit Bumrah's First Reaction After Reclaiming World No. 1 Ranking From Ravichandran Ashwin
Jasprit Bumrah took 11 wickets during the recent two-match Test series against Bangladesh that India won 2-0.

India pacer Jasprit Bumrah made an impressive return to competitive cricket after a lengthy break that saw him reclaim the no. 1 ranking among the Test bowlers. India recently defeated Bangladesh 2-0 in a two-match Test series with Bumrah finishing with 11 wickets – the joint-highest alongside teammate and player-of-the-series Ravichandran Ashwin.

After playing a key role in India’s title win at the T20 World Cup earlier this year, the 30-year-old was rested from a couple of white-ball tours before making his return through the Chennai Test against Bangladesh last month.

And the star pacer has already started looking ahead to the next challenge.

“Weathered the challenge Onto the next one,” Bumrah captioned a clip of him bowling in the nets which he shared on his Instagram account on Thursday morning.

Bumrah is expected to be part of India’s next Test assignment that will see them host New Zealand for a three-match series starting October 16. He’s been rested for the upcoming three-match T20I series against Bangladesh though.

Bumrah underwent a back surgery last year to deal with a stress fracture that had kept him away from action for a significant period. There were fears that the bowler might lose the bite following a long injury lay-off but he’s allayed the fears with sparkling performances across formats.

Bumrah had recently said Test cricket is his favourite format, and hopes to keep playing it for as long as possible.

“My favourite format is the Tests; I’ve always said that. I wanted to play this format for a long period of time and I am doing it. I’m trying to give my absolute best in this format,” Bumrah had said on JioCinema.

He also shed light on how he adjusts to different pitches in quick time.

“Have to use your experience because you’ve played lot of cricket in different conditions, understand where the trend is going and quickly adapt to that. Then you start communicating with others as well like about changing lines and lengths. Have to be proactive in that way,” Bumrah said.
