'Want to Thank Sangakkara and Sanju': RR's Jaiswal Grateful for Being Backed by Management as he Delivers With Unbeaten Ton vs MI
Yashasvi Jaiswal credited the RR management for backing the young batting sensation during his tough start in IPL 2024 and he repaid the faith with a fine century against MI in Jaipur.

When the pressure is on young Yashasvi Jaiswal with questions popping up regarding his form, it does not take the talented youngster to show why he deserves his spot in the T20 World Cup squad as he delivered a smashing century to see the chase through to the end as Rajasthan Royals completed the double over the five-time champions, Mumbai Indians.

Speaking at the post-match interview, Jaiswal was thrilled with the knock and revealed that his mantra for the heroics was just the classic advice that most batters would get even through their academy days, ‘Watch the ball’.

He said,” I enjoyed it from the start and I made sure I was watching the ball properly and playing proper cricketing shots”.

Former Indian cricketer, Sunil Gavaskar also posed the question as to why he continued to haunt MI. To add some context, this is his second IPL century and his maiden ton had also come against MI at the Wankhede Stadium last year.

He responded by saying,” I’m trying to do what I am doing well, some days it comes good and some days it doesn’t, I’m not thinking much”.

Following his knock, the youngster took the time to thank some of the senior members of the side namely Kumar Sangakkara, the Director of Cricket for the Royals and the skipper Sanju Samson for backing him through this tough phase.

“I want to thank all my seniors for the way they have guided me. I want to thank the Rajasthan Royals management and especially Sanga sir and Sanju bhai for giving me opportunities. I go out and give my best in the practice sessions and I’m so happy today,” he concluded.

Jaiswal’s return to form will be a bonus for the league leaders who have one foot into the playoffs as they bring an end to their home games at the Sawai Mansingh Stadium with a brilliant record in 2024 having won a total of four games and the lone defeat.

Their next task is on the road as they take on Lucknow Super Giants at the Ekana Sports City, Lucknow on April 27.
