Lucknow Super Giants fast bowler Mayank Yadav, who made headlines in IPL 2024 for his express pace, made his T20I debut for India on Sunday (October 6). He was included in India’s playing XI for the first T20I of the ongoing three-match series against Bangladesh in Gwalior, and he finished the match with figures of 4-1-21-1. The 22-year-old right-arm pacer kicked off his T20I career by bowling a maiden over, which helped him become only the third Indian pacer to do so, and then on the second ball of his second over, he picked up his maiden international wicket.
Senior Bangladeshi batter Mahmudullah tried to play a big shot against him but failed to connect the ball properly and was caught by Washington Sundar. After making a memorable debut for India at the newly constructed New Madhavrao Scindia Cricket Stadium in Gwalior, Mayank took to Instagram to share a post in which he expressed his happiness on getting a chance to play for the senior India men’s cricket team.
According to Mayank, wearing the Indian jersey is a dream come true moment for him, and it will always remain the best moment of his life.
The youngster shared four pictures from the match on the popular photo and video sharing platform and captioned it, “The best feeling for a cricketer is to play for his country and wearing the blue jersey for me it’s like a dream come true …… this will remain the best moment of my life. I’m very grateful for God that he gave me strength and to all the people who helped me in my hard time and supported throughout.”

Apart from Mayank, Arshdeep Singh and Varun Chakravarthy also impressed with his bowling performances in the series opener. Both of them managed to take three wickets each, which helped him dismiss Bangladesh for 127 runs in 19.5 overs. The target of 130 runs was easily chased down by the India men’s cricket team in 11.5 overs for the loss of three wickets.
For the hosts, Hardik Pandya top-scored by remaining unbeaten on 39 runs from 16 balls. He finished the match by smashing a six off Taskin Ahmed’s bowling.
