Sajeevan Sajana once again rose to the occasion with the bat in some stylish fashion, as the Indian Women’s batter smashed a four off her first delivery to lead India to a 6-wicket win over Pakistan in the Women’s T20 World Cup 2024 on Sunday.
India florished with the ball in the first innings, as Arundhati Reddy rattled the Pakistan batters with career-best figures of 3/19, to restrict them to just 105 runs.
But, India would play too precariously with the bat, and a regular fall of wickets would ensure that Pakistan would stay alive in the game till the very end.
With 2 runs needed to win off 8 balls, skipper Harmanpreet Kaur was dismissed by Fatima Sana, as the pressure tightened on the Indian ranks to clinch a win against their arch-rivals.
With the weight of the nation on her shoulders, Sajana unleashed a thunderous swipe from a tossed-up delivery to score a boundary and finished off India’s chase in style to keep their dreams of making a semi-final alive.

Finishing off in style is nothing new for Sajana. The right-hander stamped her mark in her WPL debut as well earlier this year, smoking off-spinner Alice Capsey for that match-winning six over long-on.
Her last-ball six against that clinched Mumbai Indians the win, shot her into the limelight, as she helped inspire the defending champions to a rousing start to the WPL 2024 campaign.

Skipper Harmanpreet Kaur’s years of experience saved India from blushes as they huffed and puffed to a six wicket win over arch rivals Pakistan, keeping their semi-final hopes alive.
Indian batters made a heavy weather of a paltry 106-run target as it required a 24-ball-29 from their experienced skipper to eke out the crucial win.
Harmanpreet retired hurt when two runs were required for victory. Sajana Sajeevan, playing her first game, finished it off with a boundary.
