'I Cannot Believe It': Commentators Shocked as Zimbabwe Make Mess of a Simple Run Out Chance
In a poor display of fielding, Zimbabwe missed out on two run out chances off the same delivery during the fourth T20I against Bangladesh on Friday.

In the run-up to the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2024, Bangladesh are playing host to Zimbabwe for a five-match series which they lead 4-0. The fourth game, which Bangladesh won by five runs, saw a comical moment featuring the fielders of the visiting team at the Sher-e-Bangla Stadium in Mirpur.

Bangladesh were reduced to 139/9 in the final over when Tanvir Islam attempted a quick single after a defensive shot off Zimbabwe pacer Blessing Muzarabani.

The bowler picked the ball and went for a direct throw at the striker’s end but missed the target and the Bangladesh batters comfortably completed the run.

Zimbabwe wicketkeeper was there to cover for the overthrow but failed to get his hands on the ball.

It led to Tanvir and Mustafizur Rahman attempting a second run. However, it resulted in a mix-up with Mustafizur late to react and had given up on making it back to the non-striker’s end.

Zimbabwe had a clear chance to effect the run-out which should have ended Bangladesh’s innings. All Johnathan Campbell had to do was calmly take the bail off but he fumbled from up close giving Mustafizur a life and leaving the commentators in disbelief.

Bangladesh folded for 143 after Mustafizur Rahman was caught by Muzarabani in the penultimate delivery. It looked like an easy run chase for Zimbabwe but the hosts came up with an exceptional bowling performance.

Experienced allrounder Shakib Al Hasan registered a four-wicket haul while Mustafizur picked up three wickets. For Zimbabwe, only Campbell was able to register a 20-plus score as the visiting side fell five runs short of the target.

The fifth and final game is slated to be played in Mirpur on May 12.
