As the Indian cricket team celebrated the glorious moment of winning the T20 World Cup 2024 in Barbados, it certainly racked up a storm within the nation. Coincidentally, the city of Barbados also witnessed a storm of its own with Hurricane Beryl leaving the Indian team, the support staff and even the various journalists stranded in the Caribbean Islands.
The T20I champions along with the family members that were part of the team were stuck in their respective hotels. This is primarily due to international flights not operating.
Despite attempts at chartering, it was not able to result in their departure. But Air India was able to send in a flight which was on a charter basis and in close coordination with the officials of the Board of Control in Cricket in India (BCCI), in order to bring the World Champions home.

To make this happen, the flight which was due to travel from Newark to Delhi diverted the passengers to another Air India flight
“These passengers could have been inconvenienced but would have wholeheartedly supported the change to ensure our champions come back,” said a source close to the development.
The Indian team is set to land in Delhi on Wednesday morning where they will meet the Prime Minister, Narendra Modi at 10 AM IST. Following the visit, they will head over to Mumbai where they will be looking to celebrate with the fans with an open bus parade from 5 PM IST tomorrow.
India will certainly be eager to see their biggest stalwarts, particularly the likes of Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma who have called time on their career in T20 internationals. The two had revealed that it would be their final T20I game following the thrilling finale

After a series of heartbreaks across all formats, the Indian team managed to end their long-standing ICC title drought which also brought an end to Rahul Dravid’s tenure as the head coach of the Indian team.
