It is the clash between two of the most exciting sides in the Indian Premier League 2024, as the Sunrisers Hyderabad take on the Rajasthan Royals on Thursday at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium in Hyderabad. The home side will look to bounce back after a crushing loss against the defending champions Chennai Super Kings but the SRH assistant coach, Simon Helmot reckons that the aggressive brand of cricket that has taken the tournament by storm is here to stay.
Speaking at the pre-match press conference Helmot said, “Our single-mindedness is that we wish to play an aggressive brand of cricket, and I think that is what all teams are doing, looking to play an aggressive brand of cricket. It has worked for us on several occasions to help us with five victories. The last one or two games have not worked so well”.
However, this strategy backfired in their previous outing against CSK with a defeat by a margin of 78 runs. The batting in particular failed to step up as the explosive opening duo of Travis Head and Abhishek Sharma were both back in the hut within the first four overs.

But the SRH assistant coach reckons that their upcoming clash against the table-toppers will be where the side will back themselves to make the right calls and possibly give RR their second defeat of the season.
“We know that if we play a positive brand of cricket, that we keep backing our abilities and look to make the best, you know, decisions possible, you know, in every given ball, that we are going to be in a good position to win this game,” Helmot added.

However, a win against the Sanju Samson-led side will not come easy as the SRH coach praised the balance within their squad and also credited their potent spin attack as well. But he backs the side to come out on top.
“Rajasthan has been on top of the ladder for a reason. They’ve got a good balanced side, they’ve got some very good spinners in their team, but we think we’ve got some very good players who spin too,” Helmot concluded.

A win for SRH will certainly boost their chances of making it to the playoff spot but RR will be looking to get those two points and confirm their ticket to the next step of the tournament as well.
