It was the eighth over of the Stallions' chase when Babar Azam shifted gears and took down Shahnawaz Dahani with his batting excellence.

Star Pakistan batter Babar Azam showcased his fantastic stroke play in the ongoing Champions Cup on Sunday, smashing Shahnawaz Dahani for 5 consecutive boundaries in an over. The Stallions were chasing 232 against Markhors when Babar, batting at no. 3, launched an assault on the 26-year-old right-arm quick.

It was the eighth over when Babar shifted gears and took down Dahani with his batting excellence. After starting the over with a dot, Babar pulled the pacer in front of the square for a boundary and followed it up with another down to the third-man region.

Dahani then bowled a shorter one only to get hammered through point for another boundary. Babar played the square drive to collect his fourth four and finished off the over with a cracking pull shot as the Stallions raced to 47 for one in eight overs.

Babar, however, couldn’t stay at the crease much longer, scoring 45 off 44 balls before falling prey to Zahid Mahmood in the 16th over. Following his dismissal, the Stallions suffered a horrible batting collapse and were bowled out for 105 in 23.4 overs, losing their last eight wickets for 26 runs in 8.4 overs.

Earlier, Markhors posted 231 following Iftikhar Ahmed’s 60-run knock while Salman Agha contributed 51 runs to the total. For Stallions, all-rounder Jahandad Khan took four wickets while Mehran Mumtaz picked up three wickets.

With 121 runs in two matches, Babar is currently the second-highest run-scorer of the tournament. Muhammad Rizwan’s Markhors are currently placed on top of the table with wins in both their matches, while the Stallions are placed second.
