Sensex jumps in opening trade
The markets trading steady after losing some of its opening gains. However, all the key BSE indices are trading in green.

New Delhi: The markets trading steady after losing some of its opening gains.

However, all the key BSE indices are trading in green led by capital goods, metals and FMCG stocks. Market breadth is in favour of advancing stocks.

At 10029 hrs, IST, the Sensex was up 74.29 points or 0.52 per cent at 14278.01, and the Nifty was up 33.10 points or 0.79 per cent at 4203.1.

About 1140 shares have advanced, 474 shares declined, and 44 shares are unchanged.

Top gainers on the Sensex are Reliance Comm at Rs 500.50 up 1.88 per cent, SBI at Rs 1,335 up 1.59 per cent and BHEL at Rs 1,368.90 up 1.45 per cent.

Top losers on the Sensex are NTPC at Rs 152 down 0.98 per cent, Hindalco at Rs 162.85 down 0.73 per cent and Grasim at Rs 2,418.05 down 0.59 per cent.

Market observers said apart from firming trends in global markets, expectations of a further ease in inflation, to be announced around Friday afternoon, also buoyed the trading sentiments.

Major gainers were Reliance Industries, BHEL, Infosys Technologies, State Bank of India, Reliance Energy, Reliance Communications, Tata Consultancy, Tata Motors, ACC and Gujarat Ambuja Cement.
