The rupee had ended one paisa down at 61.92 against the Greenback on Thursday.
Mumbai: The rupee strengthened by 12 paise to 61.80 against the dollar in early trade on Friday at the Interbank Foreign Exchange on increased selling of the US currency by exporters and banks amid persistent foreign capital inflows.
Forex dealers said besides increased selling of the American currency by exporters and banks, the dollar's weakness against other currencies overseas, supported the rupee.
A higher opening in the domestic equity market also strengthened the rupee, they added.
The rupee had ended one paisa down at 61.92 against the Greenback on Thursday.
Meanwhile, the benchmark BSE Sensex spurted by 88.93 points, or 0.31 per cent, to 28,651.75 in early trade on Friday.
