New Delhi: Leading car manufacturer Maruti Udyog Ltd (MUL) will begin exporting the new Zen Estilo from the next fiscal year and will soon launch a new luxury model.
"We will export the new Zen Estilo from next year to all the right-hand driving European markets," Jagdish Khattar, managing director of MUL, said on the sidelines of the launch of Zen Estilo late on Tuesday.
"We also have plans to export 100,000 cars in the European markets in the next two years," Khattar added.
MUL, in which Suzuki Motor Company has majority stake, said the Zen Estilo would be available in four variants with introductory prices ranging from Rs 320,000 to Rs 400,000.
"These are introductory prices and very soon we will review it," Khattar said.
Maruti launched the first edition of Zen in 1993 and it was the first car to be exported to Europe from India.
However, it stalled its production in March 2006 by which time it had sold over 760,000 units, including exports of over 122,000 units.
According to a MUL official, the company would soon launch a luxury high-end model.
Maruti is also planning to set up a complete automobile design centre in India within two-three years. It would be the second biggest in Asia, said the MUL official.
