New Delhi: The markets have lost ground and moved deep into the red on account of profit booking seen at higher levels.
After the Sensex slipping below the 14,000 mark even the Nifty has slipped below the 4,000 levels due selling pressure in index pivotals.
At 1259 hrs IST, the Sensex is down 113.38 points or 0.81 per cent at 13901.54, and the Nifty down 34.80 points or 0.86 per cent at 3989.25.
About 1500 shares have advanced, 917 shares declined, and 71 shares are unchanged.
Top gainers on the Sensex are Dr Reddys Labs up 1.7 per cent, Reliance Energy up 1.2 per cent and L&T up 1 per cent.
Top losers on the Sensex are Hindalco down 3.2 per cent, ITC down 3.19 per cent and Hero Honda down 2.74 per cent.
Top gainers on the Nifty are HPCL up 4.06 per cent, BPCL up 3.24 per cent and Jet Airways up 2.93 per cent.
Most active shares on BSE are Satyam, Info Edge, HDFC, Reliance and Tech Mahindra.
Index heavyweight Hindustan Lever was trading at Rs 211.75 down 0.21 per cent from its previous close of Rs 212.20.
Index heavyweight Reliance was trading at Rs 1,290.00 up 0.4 per cent from its previous close of Rs 1,284.80.
Tech major Infosys was trading at Rs 2,287.00 down 1.11 per cent from its previous close of Rs 2,312.60.
Cigarette major ITC was trading at Rs 169.75 down 3.19 per cent from its previous close of Rs 175.35.
Refinery major HPCL was trading at Rs 288.65 up 4.32 per cent from its previous close of Rs 276.70.
