Ranbir Kapoor's Ramayana To Go On Floors From THIS Date; Makers To Shoot Lord Ram's Childhood Portion
Nitesh Tiwari helmed Ramayana starring Ranbir Kapoor, Yash, Sai Pallavi and others to go on the floors soon.

Ranbir Kapoor and Nitesh Tiwari are set to collaborate on Ramayan. Although the project is yet to be formally announced, it was reported that Ramayana would kick off filming this year. The film also reportedly stars Sai Pallavi in the lead. While the fans await more about the project, a latest PinkVilla report has hinted that Nitesh Tiwari is taking the film on floors in April.

As per a source close to the portal, the production team, led by Nitesh Tiwari, is ready to begin filming at Film City in Mumbai. The first schedule will focus on the childhood sequences of Lord Ram, Laxman, and Bharat, with child artists portraying these roles. The source stated, “Nitesh Tiwari and his team are all set to start shooting for Ramayana from April 2 in Mumbai. A set has been created at Film City and that’s where the journey of this divine film begins. It’s the set-up of a Gurukul, which has been combined with a green screen for enhancement in the post-production process.”

The source continued, “Nitesh Tiwari will be shooting for the childhood portions of lord Ram, where Guru Vasishtha gives life lessons to Lord Ram and his brothers. Shishir Sharma has been cast to play the role of Guru Vasishtha, whereas the names of child artists have been kept under wraps for now. It’s a pure and honest take on Ramayana, and the makers are being very cautious to do justice to every part that’s written in the books. It’s a trilogy and the intent is to not just make a visual spectacle, but a film that can educate generations to follow.”

Ranbir Kapoor will be absent during the initial shooting phase as he is finalizing 3D scans in Los Angeles, expected to rejoin the production in mid-April, “While Nitesh Tiwari and co. will be shooting for the introductory sequences, Ranbir will be off to LA next week for the final round of 3D scans for the film. He has been off to LA multiple times over the last few months and this will be the final round of scans, which can be used in the post-production process. He is expected to join the Ramayana Team by Mid-April,” the source concluded.

In Nitesh Tiwari’s Ramayana, Ranbir Kapoor will be playing the role of Lord Ram. Sai Pallavi has been roped in for the role of Sita. KGF star Yash is also likely to play Ravana in the movie whereas Sunny Deol has reportedly been locked for the role of Hanuman. Bobby Deol and Vijay Sethupathi are also reportedly in talks for the roles of Kumbhakarna and Vibhashana respectively. It was recently reported that Amitabh Bachchan has been finalised for the role of King Dashrath in the movie. However, there is no official confirmation regarding this as of now.
