The press conference for the 69th Hyundai Filmfare Awards 2024 with Gujarat Tourism took place on January 16, unveiling the nominations for the prestigious awards. Celebrity guests at the event included Karan Johar, Janhvi Kapoor, and Varun Dhawan. Varun shared anecdotes from his first-ever Filmfare performance, reminiscing about a glitch that occurred during the show.
Varun amusingly recalled an incident where, during his performance, the lights went down, the music stopped midway, and he found himself facing Salman Khan, who was watching him. Varun shared, “And bang in front of me, I see Mr Salman Khan, just watching me (imitates Salman’s deadpan face). And I got so scared, I started sweating.” His humorous account elicited laughter from Karan, Janhvi, and other reporters present.

Varun further explained that due to a technical glitch, he left the stage and went backstage. There, he was reassured that everything was fine, and he could resume his performance. Despite the hiccup, Varun remembered making eye contact with Salman Khan throughout the performance, making it a memorable albeit nerve-wracking experience.
Filmfare unveiled the list of nominations for the 69th Awards on the same day. The best film category includes Animal, Jawan, OMG 2, Pathaan, and Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani. Nominated directors comprise Amit Rai, Atlee, Karan Johar, Sandeep Reddy Vanga, and Vidhu Vinod Chopra, the creator of the hit film 12th Fail.
The nominations for best actors feature prominent names such as Ranbir Kapoor, Ranveer Singh, Shah Rukh Khan, Sunny Deol, and Vicky Kaushal. The awards ceremony is set to be a two-day event at GIFT City in Gujarat on January 28, 2024, with a Curtain Raiser scheduled for January 27, 2024. The curtain-raiser segment will be hosted by Aparshakti Khurana and Karishma Tanna, featuring a fashion show by Shantanu and Nikhil and a musical performance by Parthiv Gohil. The main awards ceremony on January 28 will be hosted by Karan Johar, Ayushmann Khurrana, and Maniesh Paul.
