12th Fail is based on the real life story of IPS officer Manoj Kumar Sharma.

Vikrant Massey emerged as one of the finest talents in the entertainment industry with his impressive acting prowess and charismatic performance. His journey to fame in Bollywood transcended boundaries, captivating the hearts of many. In a career spanning more than 15 years, the actor proved his versatility with his performances in films like Mirzapur, Lipstick under My Burkha, Chhapaak, Haseen Dillruba, and Love Hostel. Recently, the actor’s real-life tale 12th fail emerged as a triumph at the box office. Helmed by the acclaimed filmmaker Vidhu Vinod Chopra, the film struck all the right chords with the audience. Ahead of the film’s release, the Chhapaak actor shared his excitement and thoughts about being a part of a Vidhu Vinod Chopra production. During his interaction with a media outlet, he also shed light on his reaction when he first read the script.

In an interview, Vikrant Massey mentioned that he couldn’t stop crying for minutes after reading the script of 12th Fail. He said, “When I read the script for the first time, I cried so much for almost 15-20 minutes because I had never heard, watched, or even known of such an amazing story."

He added that he was really moved hearing the script, and somewhere or the other he even saw himself in this story.

12th Fail is based on the life of IPS officer Manoj Kumar Sharma. Speaking about the great man, Vikrant Massey stated, “A lot of things happened in Mr Manoj’s life, he has had a wonderful life. Sometimes it’s unbelievable that in spite of so many hardships a man can bear so much. Despite so many struggles, he succeeded in life. He really inspired me."

Vidhu Vinod Chopra’s directorial was released worldwide on October 27 in Hindi, Tamil, Telugu, and Kannada. The real-life tale is based on the challenges of millions of students who attempt the UPSC entrance exam. However, it goes beyond that one exam and motivates aspirants to try again and not give up in the face of failure.

The film created history at the box office and has received an overwhelming response from all corners since its release. On January 28, the team of 12th Fail emerged as the biggest winners at the Filmfare Awards 2024. Vidhu Vinod Chopra’s 12th Fail clinched the award for Best Film of the Year, and the filmmaker bagged the award for Best Director. Vikrant Massey won Best Actor Critics for 12th Fail.
