Sushant Singh Rajput started his career in Television and appeared in the romantic drama Kis Desh Mein Hai Meraa Dil. He then featured in the show Pavitra Rishta alongside Ankita Lokhande which became a huge hit. Following this, he also participated in two dance reality shows Zara Nachke Dikha and Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa 4.

Despite competing with seasoned artists, he emerged as a promising star. Following the footsteps of Shah Rukh Khan, he transitioned from the Television to film Industry. The actor made his Bollywood debut with the film adaptation Kai Po Che! The film was a critical and commercial success.

The actor also starred in films like Shuddh Desi Romance, PK, Detective Byomkesh Bakshy!, M. S. Dhoni: The Untold Story, Raabta, Kedarnath, Sonchiriya, Chhichhore, and the Netflix movie Drive. Sadly, he passed away on June 14, 2020, at the age of 34 at his Mumbai residence.

His final film, Dil Bechara, was released on July 24, 2020, available as a free feature on Disney+ Hotstar Multiplex. Initially, allegations surrounding his death were pointed at his girlfriend, actress Rhea Chakraborty, but she was later proven innocent.
