Indian road infrastructure and highways have been witnessing rapid growth, major credit goes to the Minister of Road Transport and Highways Nitin Gadkari. Now, to make it better and improve all the loopholes, the minister has created an ambitious roadmap, under which he along with top officials will be putting extra efforts into making the country’s road condition top-notch, offering improved infrastructure to the public.
As per the details shared by Cartoq, Gadkari said that India’s road infrastructure soon will rival the USA, and the target will be achieved in the next period of 5 years.
Future of India’s Road Infrastructure
The report says, the minister revealed the plan in an interview, which was published in the Manorama Yearbook 2024. He says the ministry’s commitment to transparency, time-bound decision-making, and quality-conscious approaches will make it happen.
Major Focus on Metros, Highways and Flyovers
While sharing the upcoming plans, Gadkari says the major focus will remain on addressing metro congestion, decreasing road accidents, and reducing travel time by providing smooth roads, highways, and flyovers.
Plan for Automobile Industry
Gadkari also pointed out that India’s automobile industry, which has been witnessing positive growth in the last few years, has become the third-largest sector in the world. He outlined saying the sector needs to be doubled to Rs 15 lakh crore within the next five years as it plays an important role in employment, and contributes in multiple ways.
Local Transport in Next 5 Years
He also predicted the country’s local transportation, saying the public will get benefits from less polluting transportation, which will be better and more cost-effective.
