Hyderabad: New Flyover To Kondapur Delayed, GHMC Extends Deadline To December 2024
With two ramps on the ORR for entry and exit, the flyover will enable traffic from ORR to bypass the Gachibowli junction, benefiting residents of the Kondapur area.

The construction of a six-lane flyover from Outer Ring Road (ORR) to Kondapur, a 1.4 km stretch, is moving slowly.

The Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) has missed the initial deadline of August 2024.

Once completed, this flyover will help commuters traveling from ORR to Kondapur and Hitec City. However, the project faces delays due to land acquisition and utility shifting issues. “We still need to acquire eight out of 48 properties for the flyover. Court cases related to land acquisition have further delayed the project,” said a GHMC official.

Another official mentioned that despite paying Rs 2.78 crore to the Telangana State Southern Power Distribution Company Limited (TSSPDCL), utility shifting has been stalled for two years.

According to Deccan Chronicle, this new flyover is designed to ease traffic at the busy Gachibowli junction. Vehicles can enter the flyover from one of its ramps on ORR and reach Street Number 2, Gachibowli, without stopping. The flyover ends about 300 meters before the Zilla Parishad School in Gachibowli.

The flyover will have two ramps on the ORR, one for entry and one for exit, with a single passage at Gachibowli. This design allows traffic from ORR to bypass the Gachibowli junction, benefiting the residents of Kondapur.

The project is also expected to be a great help for IT employees traveling from ORR to Hitec City. After exiting at Gachibowli Street No. 2, they can use the Kothaguda flyover to directly reach Hitec City. GHMC officials have now set a new deadline of December 2024 for the project’s completion.
